Twenty-five years after the first digital banner ad (thanks, AT&T) you can’t go a day without seeing some type of digital advertising. It’s how we connect with our customers and how brands continue to build awareness. In fact, this year, digital ad spend will surpass advertising on traditional formats like TV and print and is predicted to account for more than half of the ad spend in the U.S. (with two-thirds of that spend on mobile ads).
According to a 2018 report by Criteo, paid display ads and social media marketing take the top two spots in allocation of marketing budgets with “traditional marketing” (including print, direct mail, TV and radio ads) coming in third. If it’s conversions you’re looking for, social media marketing is where it’s at followed by paid display advertising and email marketing.
The consensus: A comprehensive mix of marketing tactics and channels, which include paid digital dollars, is where you’ll see the best marketing strategies laid out for brands who are able to cut through the noise online.
So, where do you start?
This month, we’ve put together a digital advertising starter kit for that purpose. Whether you plan in months, quarters or a full year out, getting the right team assembled with a healthy budget and goals that support your business needs are all part of the mix. While there’s never a one-size-fits-all approach to advertising, there are key steps to ensure your process kicks off without a hitch.
